PAINTER
Job Description
Applies paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces. Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun and putty knife. Primes surfaces as necessary. May choose paint according to application or job.  Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Directs and leads the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited training school at journeyman level in painting/ wallpapering preferred.  Ten (10) years of related commercial experience may be acceptable in lieu of schooling.
Possess a valid driver's license
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):
 
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds. Must be capable of climbing and working from ladders up to 36 feet, kneeling and crouching to make repairs.
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, including but not limited to noises, electrical shock, mechanical hazards, fumes, burns, hazardous chemicals and infectious wastes, which requires following basic safety precautions.  
Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: 
Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
